Picky Bastard Cork has adopted the Rod Builder Cork Grade Rating System which is a process designed to standardize cork grades/names for rod making cork. See more here: http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/corkscale.pdf.

We've done this to make sure that the names for each of our three grades has some significance. That means when you buy cork from us today or in three years, you know what you will get based on the grade you order. To simply our lives, we call our three grades (each available with or without the center bore) A, B and C. You may know them as:

A = CG1, AAAA+, Super Duper, Flor Plus, Presentation Grade, The Good Sh*t, What I'm Really Buying
B = CG2, AA, Pretty Darn Good, Flor, Standard Grade, This Is Still Really Expensive, What I Tell My Wife I'm Buying
C = CG3, A, Still Very Nice, Flor To Some, The Cheap Stuff, Great For My Kid's Rod, What She Wants Me To Buy

None of our rings have been bleached.  Bleach sucks.  These are 1 1/4” x 1/2” rings.  We do have some 1/4”-thick rings but we’re not talking too much about ‘em because we don’t think we’ve found a great supplier for those and the ones we got cost about the same as the 1/2” rings.

The A's.

Really, really nice.  Get yer presentation-grade rings here.

Fewest and smallest voids possible and minimal voids/discoloration, especially near the edges.

Very nice.  Perfect for most any rod.  Standard “Flor” grade.

The C's.

Still good.  Great cork for the price. Works for many rods.  And hey, the fish don’t care.
